400 g. Folie yarn, colour No. 82. Knitting needles nos. 5 and 6. 1 button. Tapestry Needle with rounded tip.

PATTERN STITCHES

Jagged trim: work over an even number of stitches.

Rows 1 and 3: (back of work) work in purled st

Row 2: work in knitted st.

Row 4: 1 knitted st., * 1 yarn over, 1 knitted st. *. Repeat from * to *, 1 knitted st. (at the end of the row the stitches will be doubled with exception of the 1st and last stitch.).

Row 5: 1 purled st. , 2 purl 3 together in back loop over the whole row and end with 1 purled st.

Row 6: work in knitted st.

Row 7: work in purled st.

Long stitch: work over 10 sts. + 7.

Row 2: 1 knitted st., * 5 knitted sts., 1 set of 5 long sts (= work the next 5 sts in knitted st. winding the yarn around the needle, for each stitch respectively, 2 times, 3 times, 4 times, 3 times, 2 times) *. Repeat from * to *, 6 knitted sts.

Row 2:: work in knitted st. slipping the extra yarn wound in the previous rows.

Rows 3 and 4: work in knitted st.

Row 5:: * 2 knitted sts., 1 set of 5 long sts., 3 knitted sts. *. Repeat from * to *, 1 set of 5 long sts., 2 knitted sts.

Row 6:: like row 2

Rows 7 and 8: work in knitted st.

Row 9: pick up from the Row 1

WORKING INSTRUCTIONS

Back: Cast on 71 (75-79) sts. with knitting needles No. 5 and work 7 rows for the jagged trim. Cont. with knitting needles No. 6 in long st. working at the sides 2 (4-1) edging stitches in knitted st. When work measures 34 (35-36) cm. from the edge, equivalent to 68 (70-72) rows, to shape the sleeve holes cross off at the sides 4 sts, then, every 2 rows, 2 sts., 1 st. When work measures 17 (18-19) cm. from beg. of sleeve holes, equivalent to 34 (36-38) rows, cross off in one time the 57 (61-65) remaining stitches.

Right-hand front: Cast on 37 (39-41) sts. with knitting needles No. 5 and work the saw-toothed edge. Cont. with knitting needles No. 6 in long st. (for sizes 46-48 work in at the sides edge 1-2 sts.). When work measures 34 (35-36) cm. from the edge, equivalent to 68 (70-72) rows, shape the sleeve hole, on the left, as for the back. When work measures 40 (41-42) cm. from the edge, equivalent to 80 (82-84) rows, to shape the neckline cross off, on the right, 5 sts., then, every 2 rows, 3 sts. twice., 2 sts., 1 st. once (2 times - 3 times). When work measures 11 (12-13) cm. from beg. to shape the neckline, equivalent to 22 (24-26) rows, cross off the 16 (17-18) remaining sts. for the shoulder.

Left front: Work to match right-hand front.

Sleeves: Cast on 31 (33-35) sts. with knitting needles No. 5 and work the saw-toothed edge. Cont. with knitting needles No. 6 in long st. starting and ending with 3 (4-5) knitted sts. instead of 6 knitted sts. At the sides inc. 1 st. every 8 rows 5 times, 1 st. every 6 rows 6 (6-7) times When work measures 42 (43-44) cm. from the edge, equivalent to 84 (86-88) rows, to shape the sleeve holes cross off at the sides 4 sts., then, every 2 rows, 2 sts., 1 st. , 2 sts. 8 times., then, cross off in one time the 7 (9-13) remaining sts..

 

MAKING UP AND FINISH

With knitting needles No. 5 pick up 62 (64-66) sts, on back of work, along the buttoning side of the right-hand front and work 7 rows for the saw-toothed edge; at the end, bind off all the sts.. Trim in the same way the left hand buttoning side. Fold on back all the hems and sew with close and regular stitching. Sew the shoulders. With knitting needles No. 5 pick up 84 (88-96) sts. around the neckline, including the sides of the buttoning edges and work 7 rows for the saw-toothed edge. Cross off the stitches, fold and sew the hem as described above. Sew a button hole on the buttoning cable side of the right-hand front, at the beg. of the neckline, and trim with cord st. or fancy st.. Sew in the sleeves. Sew the sides and the undersleeves. Sew on the button on the left hand front, opposite the buttonhole.
