WORKING INSTRUCTIONS

Work in a circle in a single piece.

Cast on 160 (170) sts using circular knitting needles No. 5 placing the stitch marker rings as follows: after the first 5 sts. (side), after the next 75 (80) sts. (front), after the next 5 sts. (side), after the last 75 (80) sts. (Back). Work: 20 rows in long knitted st. in a circle, equivalent to 14 cm; 28 rows work in knitted st. in a circle, equivalent to 13 cm; 20 rows in long knitted st in a circle, equivalent to 14 cm.; 69 (77) rows in knitted st. in a circle, equivalent to 31 (34) cm. At the same time, after the first 20 (22) rows, to shape openings for the hands, work the first 19 (21) sts. and stand off the remaining sts.; cont. only on these sts on the forward and return rows, working the dec. as explained below. After 28 rows stand off these sts., Pick up the work on the next 47 (48) sts. and cont. only on these sts. for 28 rows; pick up the work on the last remaining sts. and cont. only on these sts. for 28 rows.
