WORKING INSTRUCTIONS

Back: Cast on 60 (64-68) sts. with knitting needles No. 4 and work 2 rows in elastic rib and 16 (18-18) rows in ribbed st. 1/1, equivalent to 7 (8-8) cm. Cont. with knitting needles No. 41/2 in bobble st. increasing 25 (26-27) sts in row 1, spaced evenly and working at the sides 1 (2-4) border sts. When work measures 30 (31-32) cm. from the cable, equivalent to 66 (68-70) rows, to shape the sleeve holes cross off at the sides 4 sts., then, every 2 rows, 2 sts., 1 st. twice. When work measures 20 (21-22) cm. from beg. of sleeve holes, equivalent to 44 (46-48) rows, to slant shoulders cross off at the sides, every 2 rows, 7 sts. 3 times (8 sts. twice., 7 sts. - 8 sts. 3 times). Bind off in one time the 27 (29-31) remaining sts. to shape the neckline.

Right-hand front: Cast on 26 (28-30) sts. with knitting needles No. 4 and work the cable as described for the back. Cont. with knitting needles No. 41/2 in bobble st. increasing 19 sts. in row 1, spaced evenly, working at the sides 1 (2-1) border st. When work measures 30 (31-32) cm. from the cable, equivalent to 66 (68-70) rows, to shape the sleeve hole bind off, on the left, 4 sts., then, every 2 rows, 2 sts. twice., 1 st. twice. When work measures 43,5 (44,5-45,5) cm from the cable, equivalent to 96 (98-100) rows, to shape the neckline bind off, on the right, 4 sts., then, every 2 rows, 2 sts. 4 times., 1 st. 3 (4-5) times At the same time, when work measures 20 (21-22) cm. from beg. of sleeve hole, equivalent to 44 (46-48) rows, slant the shoulder as for the back.

Left front: Work to match right-hand front.

Sleeves: Cast on 28 (30-32) sts with knitting needles No. 4 and work the cable as described for the back. Cont. with knitting needles No. 41/2 in bobble st. increasing 29 sts in row 1 and working at the sides 1 border st. At the sides inc. 1 (2-1) st every 14 rows 4 times. When work measures 33 (35-37) cm. from the cable, equivalent to 72 (78-82) rows, to shape the sleeve holes bind off at the sides 4 sts., 2 sts. every 2 rows 9 times. Bind off in one time the remaining 21 (23-25) sts.

MAKING UP AND FINISH

For each pocket base with knitting needles No. 4 pick up 20 sts along a side of the back, immediately after the cable in ribbed st. 1/1; work in knitted st. for a length of 20 cm, then, bind off the stitches. With knitting needles No. 4 pick up 82 (84-86) sts along the buttoning side of the right-hand front and work 6 rows in ribbed st. 1/1 working in row 4, , 5 buttonholes of 2 sts., the first at the beg. of waist band, the second at the end of this border and the remaining buttons spaced at 10 cm. from each other; work 2 rows in elastic rib, then, graft the stitches with the tapestry needle. Trim in the same way the left hand buttoning side, without making the buttonholes. Sew the shoulders. With knitting needles No. 4 pick up 76 (78-80) sts. around the front and back neckline, including the sides of the buttoning edge, and work 12 rows in ribbed st. 1/1 working in row 7, a 2-stitch buttonhole. inside the first 4 sts.; work 2 rows in elastic rib, then, graft the stitches with the tapestry needle. Sew in the sleeves. Sew the sides up to the pocket base; cont. the seam of the open side of the base pocket only with the corresponding side of the front, then complete the seam to the end of the waist band.

Sew the undersleeves. Sew the buttons on the left hand front, opposite the buttonholes, e trim

these by needle in fancy stitch.
